Preventative Healthcare
Preventive healthcare aims to prevent illness and assist in the early detection of specific diseases whilst encouraging the promotion and maintenance of good health.
It is one of the cornerstones of our philosophy here at Old Bar Medical Centre, as we believe that everyone should have access to gold standard preventative healthcare to be given the best opportunity to thrive in body and mind.
Preventative healthcare occurs at almost every GP visit – perhaps without you even realising!
Preventative health activities include:
- blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring for cardiovascular risk assessment
- diabetes screening
- weight and height checks
- pre-pregnancy and antenatal checks and testing
- childhood immunisation and medical/developmental checks
- falls risk
- osteoporosis and dementia assessment in the elderly
It’s all about catching potential issues early and stopping or slowing their progress to maximise your health and longevity.
A healthy lifestyle is vital for preventing disease, including prevention of cancer.
INTERPRETER SERVICE
We use the Telephone Interpreter Service 1300 131 450 when required. We can organise an “over the phone” service or with 48 hours notice an “on-site” service.
We can arrange interpreters through NABS, National Auslan Inter-preter Service for our deaf patients.
